About Kayak Rentals LLC

 

Hi, I’m Josh Adkison, the owner of Kayak Rentals LLC.

I’m a disabled veteran of the United States Air Force, and after my service, I spent years working as a tow truck driver. During that time, I started my first kayak rental business in Biloxi, Mississippi. I’ve always loved being on the water, and I wanted to share that experience with others.

​

Not long after starting, I was offered the opportunity to open a new tow company office in Jackson, MS. It was a big career move, so I closed the rental business and relocated. Life was steady for a while — until my health took a turn.

A few years later, I contracted Rocky Mountain spotted fever. After four ICU stays and months of recovery, my doctors called me a “medical mystery.” The illness left me unable to work, and it forced me to completely change how I lived.

Eventually, I moved to North Fort Myers, Florida, where I decided to start over and return to something that truly makes me happy — helping people get out on the water. That’s when I brought Kayak Rentals LLC back to life.

My business model is simple: we deliver kayaks directly to your launch spot within Lee and Charlotte counties. No trailers, no heavy lifting, no hassle. You just show up and enjoy the day. Our rentals include kayaks, paddles, life jackets, and safety whistles — everything you need for a safe, stress-free trip.

What makes this business special to me is the personal connection. This isn’t a big corporate rental shop. It’s me, sharing my passion, my story, and my equipment with people who want to explore the beauty of Southwest Florida.

Kayak Rentals LLC is more than just a business — it’s part of my journey. I’ve faced challenges, but the water has always been a place of peace and healing for me. My hope is that I can share that same experience with you.
